So the wedding is only one day, but if you are planning on making a weekend out of your trip... or even a serious vacation, there are a lot of great things to do in and around LA.  Here are some of our recommendations:

The Getty Villa

Located in Malibu, a museum featuring ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture.  Admission is free but you have to reserve timed tickets ahead of time and parking is $10.

Santa Barbara

Provided it doesn't burn down, Santa Barbara is a great locale for a day trip.  They have a great mission and botanical garden.  Ample shopping in the downtown area, plus the drive up the coast is amazing.

Disneyland

Obviously.  Why not take a trip to the happiest place on earth while you're in the area?!  California Adventure is the under-rated more grown up side of the park featuring the Tower of Terror and one of the best roller coasters I've ever been on. [ed: Kala has not been to Magic Mountain yet...it's on our list]

In-N-Out

Okay, not a real activity, but I assure you this is the most amazing burger in the world.  Native to California, you won't find one further east than Tuscon.  We recommend you get the burger with the spread and the Neapolitan shake (it's on the secret menu).  Vegetarian?  They also have really yummy grilled cheese—or so we've been told; the burger is too good for me to have ever gotten anything else.  There's one right next to LAX.

Beachnic

As an homage to our engagement, we'll be hosting some sort of informal get-together on Saturday afternoon at Westward Beach.  You were planning on going to the beach anyway, so why not all go together?  More details will develop as we get closer to August.
